COMPASS

Culture for the Future

Navigate Adventure Together

Cut time spent on staff issues by 75%. Create a proactive team that is a joy to lead.

Stop disruptive behaviour and increase productivity. For newly formed teams, re-formed teams, and teams working their way through change initiatives like a re-structure, merger, or responding to a crisis. Also for well functioning teams who want to amp up their performance from good to amazing.

You may observe one or more of these symptoms in your team:

  • Staff lack resilience and are often emotional at work

  • Back biting and white-anting

  • Pleasant when present, nasty when not

  • Pessimism and negativity

  • Resistance to change

  • Reactive and critical

Or you may wish to build on these aspects

  • Enthusiastic and hard working team

  • Stable and focused staff

  • They work as hard as you do

  • Individuals are keen to learn and participate

  • Team is known as savvy and collaborative

How I work with Teams on their Culture

There are two aspects to developing the foundations of a high performing team:

  1. Know what’s important to the team: these are the team’s VALUES.

  2. Know how the team will work together: this is the team’s CULTURE COMPASS™.

Step 1. Values Mapping

We don’t pick values out of a hat. We don’t do brainstorming of what values we think sound good.

The methodology is based on the research by Clare Graves and many other developmental theorists. Whereas many profiling instruments are DESCRIPTIVE of current abilities or styles, this profiling instrument is DEVELOPMENTAL. It reveals what is possible on a growth trajectory, and the steps to get there.

We use a profiling instrument developed by Complete Coherence that maps each individual’s current worldview, or set of values. We also compile the reports to see team or organisation’s collective set of values and capacity. A rich conversation about how our values support or hinder our mission is next, along with identifying what we want to emphasise and nurture on our growth pathway.

Step 2. Culture Compass™

The Culture Compass™ sets out how the team will work together. This includes core values, who the team serves, the results it produces, and the team behaviours. The team determines which behaviours are acceptable, and which ones are not.

The team then drafts a Manifesto for their most essential working principles. This forms the team agreements and creates accountability for how people perform and treat each other.

With the Culture Compass™ complete, the team is ready to build relationships and performance hand in hand.

What leaders say about the program

Alex Ogg
Former CEO at Western Australia Fishing Industry Council

Catherine Daniel
Director, ICT Program at Local Land Services

Jim Dunn
CEO at FGD Group

Kaylene Sloman
Director of Corporate Services at Boulia Shire Council

Zoë is very perceptive in analysing clients’ needs and uses a variety of different tools and strategies to customise her delivery, thus providing bespoke and fit for purpose programs. Zoë also has that unique ability to instigate critical change of thought patterns within a business or organisation. Her holistic approach makes the programs genuine and inherently valuable, leaving an indelible mark on her clients.
I could immediately see that Zoë’s message and approach to dealing with people stuff was just what my team needed. Zoë took the time to understand the team before we commenced the workshops and adjusted the pace and content to suit the team’s needs as we progressed through each session. Her ability to get people to listen to what they are saying and adjust their messaging was valuable in helping my team to grow. Our team now has more authentic and productive conversations.
Zoë has worked with the FGD Group on many occasions over the last five or so years. She has helped us with change management when the firm was moving to an activity based office and going paperless. She has also worked with us on mentoring and one on one training as well as leading our Director group and broader community with difficult conversations training. I thoroughly recommend Zoë in all areas she works in.
Zoë uses language and scenarios that everybody can understand. The use of practical exercises was a great tool, we were making inroads before we even realised what we’d achieved. Thank you Zoë.
